West boasts a couple of NPC title contendersBy Brian Meadows
The North Piedmont 3A track and field championships are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday at Mooresville High. West finished fourth in the girls and boys competition last season with 58 and 51 points, respectively. The Warriors had two event champions in 2007, but Antonio Allison (boys discus) and Ahshante Branch (girls shot put) aren’t back to defend their titles.
Quan Rucker and Liz Hall figure to be West’s strongest hopefuls next week — Rucker in the boys’ 400-meter run and Hall in the girls’ triple jump.
