West freshman a star rising?

image

By Brian Meadows

Earlier this season, West boys tennis coach Lindsey Weycker called Peter Eller a player who could turn the program around.

Eller has shown flashes of his potential this season, and did so again Monday when he pushed Mooresville’s Neil Trimble to a tiebreaker at No. 1 singles.

The freshman won the opening set 6-4 before Trimble bounced back to take the second set 6-3 and then the tiebreaker 10-7.

The other singles matches were all runaway victories for the Blue Devils, who won 9-0 and secured the NPC’s No. 2 seed for the playoffs.
