Wildcats cruise in four-team meet

MOORESVILLE — Lake Norman won both the boys and girls team events Thursday in a four-team meet.

The Wildcats girls racked up 123 points to finish ahead of South Rowan (54), North Iredell (48) and East Rowan (42). Lake Norman’s boys had 98½ points to beat East Rowan (86), North Iredell (45) and South Rowan (40½).

The Wildcats boys won six events, led by Joe Hughes, who finished first in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Tyler McRorie took top honors in the long jump, while Nick D’Auria won the 110 hurdles. The Wildcats also finished first in the 4x200- and 4x800 relays.

North Iredell came out on top in two events. Zeke Odom was first in the 300 hurdles, while the 4x100 relay team also finished first.

Lake Norman’s girls won seven events, including the 4x200, 4x400 and 4x800 relays. The 4x800 relay team won by a whopping 33 seconds.

Amy Shelton was dominant for North Iredell, winning the 100 and 300 hurdles and taking top honors in the high jump as well.
