MOORESVILLE — One top athlete had the meet of his life at Tuesday’s Iredell County track and field championships while the other used it as a test run for the 3A state meet.
Behind Most Outstanding Field Athlete Jamel Allison and Most Outstanding Track Athlete Patrick Campbell, Mooresville’s boys team won its third consecutive county championship with yet another dominant performance.

Lake Norman pitcher Nick Lomascolo was a strikeout machine Wednesday. He fanned 13 batters in 5 1-3 innings to lead the Wildcats baseball team to a 5-2 North Piedmont 3A win over West Iredell.
Thirteen different Lake Norman girls soccer players scored at least one goal in the Wildcats’ first four games, all of which were victories.
When pushed for the first time this season, Lake Norman pushed back.
Sarah Tang slipped in a goal from 14 yards out with less than two minutes remaining and the previously unchallenged Wildcats prevailed with a 1-0 road victory Tuesday over Mooresville.
