Of all the things Jamel Allison can do on the track, the most impressive feats might be the ones the general public never sees.
Known primarily as a premier athlete in the triple jump, Allison routinely puts on a show when the Blue Devils practice.
“He’s crazy with all the athletic ability he has,” Mooresville coach Michael Serefine said. “He can go out and pick up any event and within probably 30 minutes, he can pretty much do that event. He came out and pole vaulted one day just messing around and was clearing 9 feet. He can throw the shot put 35, 40 feet. It’s just raw talent.”

Freshman Hannah Mack spotted the hole in the defense and fed fellow freshman Courtney Smith for a beautiful one-touch goal that started the second-half scoring barrage in Mooresville’s 8-1 win Monday over North Iredell.

Mooresville’s girls soccer team stands alone in second place in the NPC after a 3-2 victory against Northwest Cabarrus on Thursday in the driving rain.
Senior Josh Nelson, the 2007 R&L county golfer of the year, currently sits in a three-way tie for third place in the conference after three matches.
Mooresville’s baseball team had the bats entering this season. It was putting them in the correct order that was tricky.

Chris Beaver answered any questions about potential nagging effects of last year’s shoulder injury. After not pitching last season, Beaver picked up the win after pitching seven innings in Mooresville’s 7-2 win Wednesday over North Iredell.
During Mooresville’s first soccer game of the season Feb. 25 against St. Stephens, the Indians blasted in a goal 20 minutes into the game.

According to the thinking of Mooresville Senior High’s boys tennis team, playing tougher competition during the non-conference portion of play can only make it better.
That’s the belief the Blue Devils put on the court in splitting their first two matches of the season against top-notch talent.
There was good news and bad news generated by Mooresville High School’s golf team in its season-opening match late last week.
The good was that the visiting Blue Devils mustered up a second-place finish in the nine-hole and non-conference affair held at nearby Mallard Head Country Club near Troutman. The bad was that there were only two teams in attendance.
Mooresville High School’s varsity baseball team enjoyed its season-opening North Piedmont Conference outing in bunches late last week.
The Blue Devils made a success of their earlier-than-ever conference debut, it coming in just the second game of the season overall, by producing runs in pairs on three different occasions and riding a stellar complete-game pitching performance from one of its college-bound staff members to ping-pong their way past host Carson High, 6-2.
