The SPC’s jumbled softball standings have become clearer in recent weeks. South Iredell was 5-6 in SPC play entering Thursday’s game and East Lincoln was 6-5.
South has a total of 18 representatives and relay teams set to compete in Saturday’s track 2A Midwest Regionals.
A regular season game that looked eminently winnable has turned tough for South’s soccer team. The Vikings host Cherryville (5-6-5 overall, 2-4-3 SPC) tonight, a team coming off a 1-0 win over conference leader North Lincoln.
South Iredell has sent at least one individual to the golf regionals each of the past few years. They’ll go as a team this time.

Defender Rachel Gibson, usually counted on to stop the opposition from scoring, got her first chance at a goal Monday against Cherryville.
The SPC tennis championships will be held Tuesday at North Lincoln, and South coach Jim McCoy has a doubles team looking to qualify for regionals for the second consecutive year.
Members of South Iredell’s boys and girls track teams had some of their best performances this year in the two-day Southern Piedmont 1A-2A championship meet this week.

Paving work on the school’s track forced South to hit the road. The Vikings had to change scheduled home games with South Caldwell and East Lincoln to away games last week, and four of their last five contests have been away.

MOORESVILLE — One top athlete had the meet of his life at Tuesday’s Iredell County track and field championships while the other used it as a test run for the 3A state meet.
Behind Most Outstanding Field Athlete Jamel Allison and Most Outstanding Track Athlete Patrick Campbell, Mooresville’s boys team won its third consecutive county championship with yet another dominant performance.
Mooresville’s girls track and field team had plenty of fun Tuesday as it waltzed to the Iredell County track and field championship.

South Iredell’s annual student vs. faculty basketball game will take place April 11 at 5:30 p.m. There will be an added twist this year, though.
After that game, faculty members will challenge former players from UNC-Chapel Hill.

Pitcher Kelsey Spangler had one of her best stat lines during Monday’s game against Statesville. The sophomore picked up the win, striking out 12 in a five-inning shutout.
Last year’s boys and girls track teams at South Iredell had several athletes who had never run track before, which presented problems as Vikings coaches struggled to just fill out their lineup sheet.

The boys basketball team concluded its first season under coach Brian Reese on Friday with a loss to North Lincoln in a play-in game for the 2A state playoffs.
South Iredell’s 3-2 softball win over Lake Norman on Monday was more than just a big win to open the season. It was also the first victory over the Wildcats in program history.

South Iredell saw its wrestling season come to an end Saturday at the 2A Midwest Regional. But the team’s biggest strength is only going to get better next year when a wave of middle school talent complements the Vikings already-strong depth.
The Vikings’ girls basketball season ended with a 73-20 loss to East Lincoln on Monday in the SPC tournament quarterfinals.
After a 24-game schedule, the postseason fate for South Iredell’s boys basketball team will be decided in a one-game playoff.
Senior Lane Marlowe, the ace of South Iredell’s pitching staff, will be able to throw March 1 for the first time in more than a month.
