After being carted off the field and taken to the hospital during South Iredell’s football game against West Iredell last Friday, defensive back Jordan McLemore is recovering nicely from what head coach Ed Masterton called a “slight concussion.”

Vikings pound ball down the stretch to beat Wildcats

South Iredell’s offense was a lot of things on Friday.

It was surprisingly explosive through the air. It was sloppy at times, with four lost fumbles.

And when it mattered most, South pounded the football, taking valuable time off the clock and leaving Lake Norman’s high-octane offense on the sidelines.

Big plays lift Vikings over Raiders

South Iredell coach Ed Masterton has said all along that the Vikings would rely on their defense to win games early in the season.

The defense did its part on Friday, but the offense more than held up its end as South opened the season with a 21-10 win over North Iredell.
